The University of British Columbia may add hardware to some exterior stairs where three vehicles have managed to get stuck in the last two weeks.
On Monday evening, a taxi somehow jumped a curb, drove through a pedestrian area, and down the stairs near the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre — as two other vehicles have done before.
A Mercedes got stalled on the stairs on Oct. 5, followed by a Volkswagen on Sunday morning (see video above).
We've heard of déjà vu but this is frankly ridiculous.
The university is currently looking at installing a handrail down the centre of the stairs to prevent it from happening again, UBC spokeswoman Heather Amos told The Huffington Post B.C. in an email Tuesday.
She also pointed out that for vehicles to get to that point, "they are disobeying signage and weaving through a barricade that further communicates limited access."
The taxi driver was not hurt, and there were no passengers inside at the time, Yellow Cab told The Province. But there was major damage to the taxi's bumpers.
