Champlain Bridge closed to South Shore-bound traffic all weekend

The Champlain Bridge’s southbound lanes will be completely closed from Friday night until Monday morning.

The closure, which begins Friday at 10 p.m. and ends Monday at 5 a.m., is due to a second work blitz on the bridge.

Workers will connect the new Nuns’ Island Bypass Bridge to the current Champlain Bridge corridor toward the South Shore.

According to the bridge work schedule, there will be more lane closures on the Champlain next weekend.

There will also be closures on Highway 15, the Nuns' Island Bridge and the Bonaventure Expressway between Oct. 17 and 20.

Detour options from the bridge corporation:

- Road users should use the Bonaventure Expressway to reach Nuns' Island via Exit 5.

- Both lanes on the Victoria Bridge will be open in the South Shore direction.

- The fifth lane on the Jacques Cartier Bridge will be open as needed in either direction.

- A shuttle service will be offered by the STM between Montreal and Longueuil.

- The Honoré Mercier Bridge and the Pont-tunnel Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine are also good options.
