OPP say it happened just before 1 a.m. on Shaw's Creek Road, just south of Highpoint Side Road.
Officers say the victim is Kenneth Carr of Caledon.
Police said it's not clear what the 62-year-old was doing at the time, adding it's a very dark stretch of rural road.
The driver stayed on the scene and is co-operating with the investigation, police said.
