A man in his 20s is in hospital in serious condition after apparently trying to cross Montreal's Ville-Marie Expressway on foot early this morning.
The man and a friend were walking across the westbound side of Highway 720 near the St-Jacques exit when one of them was struck by a taxi.
The man was rushed to hospital in critical condition. Police say he suffered serious injuries, however, they no longer fear for his life.
The taxi driver was treated for shock.
Police believe the two pedestrians were intoxicated.
