Ottawa Shooting Suspect Captured On Video Getting Into Car

WATCH: Ottawa Shooting Suspect Caught On Video

A dashboard camera captured images of a suspected gunman getting into his car shortly after shooting a Canadian soldier at the National War Memorial in Ottawa Wednesday.

The gunman, identified as Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, was caught on camera at 9:51 a.m., according to the time stamp at the bottom of the video frame. Seconds earlier, he fatally shot Cpl. Nathan Cirillo as he stood at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The footage, submitted to CBC News by an anonymous viewer, shows a man in dark clothes and a white scarf walking around the front of Toyota Corolla on Wellington St. The car's license plates had been removed.

The gunman was later shot dead by Sergeant-At-Arms Kevin Vickers after he entered Parliament's Centre Block.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper addressed the attacks in a live televised evening speech to Canadians.

"Fellow Canadians, in the days to come we will learn more about the terrorist and any accomplices he may have had,'' he said in the broadcast.

"But this week's events are a grim reminder that Canada is not immune to the types of terrorist attacks we have seen elsewhere around the world.'' Harper went on to reaffirm the country "will never be intimidated."

An investigation remains active and ongoing.
