Garlic is an essential part of many dishes, but it doesn't sit well with everyone's stomach.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) sufferers, as well as those who are allergic to allium, a category of pungent foods that also includes onion and chives, need to leave garlic out of recipes.

The only problem is, garlic happens to be delicious and adds something special to many recipes. While nothing can be a perfect replacement for it, these herbs and veggies let off a similar aroma and flavour when cooked.
