Walmart Has A Halloween Section Dedicated To 'Fat Girl Costumes'

Walmart Makes Massive Halloween Costume Blunder

We've seen a lot of Halloween costume fails this year (ahem, sexy Ebola nurse) but Walmart has just upped the ante in the worst way possible.

Jezebel discovered (through a reader tip) that the retailer's website files their plus-size Halloween costumes under a section called "Fat Girl Costumes."

The costumes themselves are labeled as "plus size" as in "Saloon Girl Women's Plus Size Adult" and "Flapper Women's Plus Size Adult Halloween," so then why are they all filed under the horribly-named "Fat Girl Costumes"?

Update: Walmart made a statement to BuzzFeed apologizing for the "Fat Girl Costumes" section. "We first heard about it this morning," spokesman Ravi Jariwala told BuzzFeed News. "Our teams immediately engaged, we’re working to remove it as soon as possible and make sure it never happens again." "This never should have been on our site," he added. "It is unacceptable, and we apologize. "We are working to remove it as soon as possible and ensure this never happens again."

Naturally, people aren't pleased and took to Twitter to voice their outrage at the American company.

Oh and look: Walmart also has "Sexy Indian Woman" costumes for all your cultural appropriation needs.

As of press time, Walmart has commented on the debacle but it's probably only a matter of time.
