John Tory speaks to reporters

John Tory will meet reporters Tuesday afternoon, holding his first news conference since his victory in Toronto's mayoral election.

Tory won the hotly contested race with a little more than 40 per cent of the vote last night, with Doug Ford relatively close behind with almost 34 per cent. Olivia Chow came in third at 23 per cent.

Last night's electoral map shows a divided city — with the higher income centre voting for Tory, while the lower income suburbs mostly favoured Ford.

"The map says to me I've got a challenge in front of me to bring the city together," Tory said Tuesday morning during an appearance on CBC's Metro Morning.

"And I'm going to do it. I'm going to do my reaching out to those parts of the city."

CBC will live stream the news conference from 2:30 p.m. ET.

Tory will be sworn in as mayor on Dec. 2.
