Is there anything Tom Hanks can't do? His career spans a swath of roles from the light-hearted rom-coms with Meg Ryan to Oscar-nominated dramas like "Captain Philips" and "Saving Mr. Banks". But despite plenty of accolades over the years, Hanks hasn't allowed the fame go to his head as he's always game to poke fun of himself on late-night TV.

Well, now James Franco gets his shot to channel his best Hanks impression in his webseries, Making A Scene. But if there's anything as diverse as Hanks' roles or greater than his ability to make us laugh, it has to be his lesser-known quirks.

He's Got An Asteroid Named After Him

If Hanks was better at math, he'd be an astronaut. Still, he has something most wannabe-astronauts don't: an asteroid named after him. Astronomers in Arizona named the hunk of space debris "12818 Tomhanks" for his role in "Apollo 13".

He Once Guest Stared On "Happy Days"

After staring in the TV show "Bossom Buddies", Hanks made a guest appearance on "Happy Days". He later became fast friends with director Ron Howard and that led to his big role in the movie "Splash". Yup, that's Hanks trying to fight the Fonz.

He's A Thespian At Heart

Hanks got his first start performing Shakespeare at The Great Lakes Theater In Cleveland, Ohio back in 1977. He spent three summers there, returning multiple times later on for fundraisers when the playhouse was in financial trouble.
