Regina's Pasqua closes ER; Ebola plan used

Regina's Pasqua hospital briefly closed its emergency room out of caution on Wednesday.

Police and Regina Qu'appelle Health Region (RQHR) security were called to the scene.

RQHR officials said a patient with flu-like symptoms couldn't confirm their travel history, and so the Ebola protocol was implemented. Eventually, the patient's travel history was cleared and the situation was deemed safe enough to reopen the emergency room.

Dr. Jessica Minion, a microbiologist with RQHR said language barrier was the reason why their was confusion over the patient's travel history. A translator was called in to help resolve the situation.

Earlier this month, health professionals in Regina tested their Ebola plan.
