Montreal austerity march draws thousands of ghoulish protesters

Thousands of people are expected to take to Montreal’s streets Friday to protest austerity measures undertaken by Philippe Couillard’s Liberal government.

CEGEP and university student association ASSÉ said 82,000 of its students would participate in a one-day strike as part of the austerity protest.

Students, workers, union members and other supporters were invited to attend the protest in their Halloween regalia.

The protest is set to start from the corner of McGill College and Shebrooke Street at 11 a.m. Follow the live blog below for the latest from CBC reporters Thomas Daigle and Morgan Dunlop.
