Eastern Townships car crash leaves 2 teenagers dead

The Sûreté du Québec is investigating after a car crash killed two 18-year-old men in the Eastern Townships.

Police received a call around 7:30 a.m. EST alerting them a car had gone off the road in a ditch near Coaticook, Que.

The SQ suspects the car missed a curve off exit 206 in Sainte-Edwidge-de-Clifton, hit some trees, rolling over and landing in a ditch.

Both men were dead by the time police arrived. One had been thrown from the vehicle. The other was removed using the jaws-of-life.

Police were still on the scene late Sunday afternoon, trying to reconstruct the events to understand what happened to the car.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released, pending the notification of their families.
