CP Rail train derails in southern Alberta

Transport safety investigators are headed to the site of a train derailment in southern Alberta.

The train, operated by Canadian Pacific Railway, derailed at 2 a.m. Tuesday morning near Pearce, officials say. Pearce is southwest of Fort Macleod.

A spokeswoman for the railway said 17 empty grain cars derailed and no one was hurt.

Transportation Safety Board of Canada investigators are headed to the scene to "gather information and assess the occurrence," according to a press release.
