Delta hockey coach Christopher Sandau fired over Nazi posts on Facebook

A North Delta hockey coach of young players was fired after parents and officials discovered his Facebook site had anti-Jewish and pro-Nazi posts.

Christopher Maximillian Sandau was a coach for players ranging in age from 11 to 14 years old in the peewee and bantam divisions for the North Delta Minor Hockey Association.

His Facebook page included photos of hockey games alongside posts and pictures praising Nazis and condemning Jews.

Sandau's Facebook page has since been removed but before it was taken down, the CBC saved posts that included digitized images of astronauts saluting the Nazi flag from space and posts allegedly written by Sandau denying the Holocaust.

"That's the sound of the Jews laughing all the way to the banks that they of course own," said one post from July 27.

At hockey practice in Delta Wednesday night, parents weren't saying much about the former coach.

Assistant coach Rob Reny said he worked with Sandau and is shocked by what he heard.

"This is the first I've heard of it I don't really know what to say at this point in time," said Reny. "I work with a lot of different coaches; a lot of them have their own different styles.  I didn't see anything that would lead me to believe, what you said here, is any truth to it."

The North Delta Minor Hockey Association said Sandau no longer has ties with the association as of Nov. 1 and parents involved on the two teams affected by the change have been informed.
