After a morning search, police in West Vancouver have located two loaded guns that were dumped near an elementary school.
On Wednesday night, a distraught man knocked on the door of a home and asked residents to call police. Officers took the man in for a mental health assessment, according to a news release.
Police then learned that two loaded 9 mm pistols had been left in a "treed or green space" in the West Bay area.
The man was co-operating with officials but wasn't been able to tell them exactly where the weapons were left. However, West Vancouver police had said there was no danger to the public.
Classes at West Bay Elementary continued and students were kept inside as the search was conducted by police and North Shore Rescue.
Just before noon on Wednesday, both organizations tweeted that the weapons had been found.
