David Willerth sentenced over Facebook child luring in Vernon

David Willerth, a 40-year-old Vernon man, has been sentenced to almost five years in prison by a B.C. Supreme Court judge.

Willerth had pleaded guilty to 18 charges, including 16 counts of communicating via the Internet to lure a child under the age of 16.

The court heard that Willerth set up a Facebook account under a fake name and posed as a modelling agent to get girls between the ages of 12 and 16 to send him naked photos of themselves.

On Friday, the judge sentenced him to four years and nine months in prison. The Crown had asked for a seven-year prison term.
