Dwayne Douse ID'd as victim of Eglinton shooting

Police have identified the victim of Thursday night's shooting as 33-year-old Dwayne Douse of Toronto.

Douse was found by police at about 7 p.m. yesterday outside a restaurant on Eglinton Avenue West, near Keele Street. He had been shot in the head and died on the scene.

Det. Sgt. Terry Browne of the Toronto police said at the time that the shooting appeared to have been "up close and personal," though he stopped short of describing it as a targeted killing.

Police said Thursday a male wearing a black hoodie was seen fleeing the area, but they have not released a more detailed description.

His death marks the city's 49th homicide of the year.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them, either at 12 Division at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
