Throne speech scheduled for next week in P.E.I. legislature

CHARLOTTETOWN - The fall session of the P.E.I. legislature resumes next week with a speech from the throne on Wednesday.

Premier Robert Ghiz has issued a statement saying his Liberal government will continue to focus on education, the environment, economic development and providing better health care for all Islanders.

Ghiz says his government will table almost 30 pieces of legislation during the session.

He says there will be new bills on environmental protection, teachers pensions, animal care and highways, to name a few.

Ghiz's Liberal government is now well into its second term in office, having won majorities in 2007 and 2011.
