Heads up, Edmonton. If you're not careful you could soon find yourself caught in the middle of a massive, impromptu snowball fight.

Organizers of the upcoming fight, Jeff Chase and Robin Mazumder, won't say where or when the snowballs will fly. But they'll wait for a weekend or evening when the conditions are perfect and they'll choose a central location.

Chase and Mazumber, who met after Chase threw out the idea on Twitter, are inviting Edmontonians to sign up online. When the time is right, a text message will be sent to all participants telling them where the snowball fight will take place.

“It’s growing by the hour,” Chase told Global, adding it's a great way for people to embrace winter.

“We have a long winter in Edmonton and I think a big part of the snowball fight is to welcome winter with excitement,” Mazumber told Metro Edmonton.

The pair says the fight will be family friendly.

To sign up for the winter showdown, you can email your phone number to yegsnowfight@gmail.com, or follow the #yegsnowfight hashtag on Twitter. You can also follow along on their Facebook page.
