McDavid was battling with Bryson Cianfrone.
The sniper had a goal and assist prior to the altercation but received a five-minute major for fighting, along with a game misconduct for removing his helmet during the fight.
McDavid was take to hospital for x-rays.
It appeared McDavid suffered the injury after he missed Cianfrone and hit the glass with his right hand.
McDavid initially went to the penalty box but left the ice shortly after holding his right wrist.
With his two points in the first period, the 17-year-old native of Newmarket, Ont., has scored 16 goals and 35 assists in 18 games this season for the Otters.
