Liberty Village condo explosion may have been a meth lab

Police say a Liberty Village condo unit that was the scene of an explosion last night may have been operating as a drug lab.

The explosion inside a sixth-floor unit at 85 East Liberty St. happened last night at around 6:30 p.m. The blast forced residents outside and sent one person, a man in his 30s, to hospital with minor burns. The man injured was inside the unit at the time of the explosion.

Fire officials say the explosion blew out an elevator door and some surrounding windows. It also forced residents out into the street before the building was declared safe hours later and they were allowed to return back inside.
