Fans react to Canadiens Rene Bourque traded to Ducks

The Canadiens have traded forward Rene Bourque to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenceman Bryan Allen in a deal that is getting people talking on social media.

Bourque joined the Canadiens in the 2011-12 season and has scored only 21 goals and 17 assists in 141 games.  He has yet to score a goal this season.

Allen is equally lacklustre with his only recent significant contribution being the 75 penalty minutes he amassed last season.

Here's what people are saying about the trade.

Good one.

That's a good point, room under the salary cap is maybe worth putting Allen on your team.  Bourque has over $3 million US left on his contract so dumping him will give the Canadiens some money to play with.

I guess you never can have too many defenceman but ideally you want ones that will help.

Laughing seems harsh.

It is impressive that they got anything more than a microphone for Bourque.
