No jeans are allowed in the presence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!
According to reports, the Royal Family is advising U.S. media to adhere to a strict dress code when covering events involving Kate Middleton and Prince William, who will be visiting the States in December.
Press must wear formal attire whilst in "the presence" or else risk being asked to leave royal functions. The couple are expected to visit New York City and Washington, D.C. from Dec. 7-8.
According to the media guidelines found on the Royal Family's official website, journalists covering royal engagements "should comply with the dress code on formal occasions out of respect for the guests of The Queen, or any other member of the Royal Family."
From there, it gets really specific, warning sloppily-dressed journalists that they will get the boot should they dare turn up at a royal event dressed in nothing but their finest attire:
"Smart attire for men includes the wearing of a jacket and tie, and for women a trouser or skirt suit. Those wearing jeans or trainers will not be admitted and casually dressed members of the media will be turned away. This also applies to technicians."
There are also a slew of rules for photographers hoping to find the money-making shot of the Duke and Duchess, who are expecting their second child next April.
According to the official guidelines, accredited media "should not photograph" members of the Royal Famiy "while they have food or a glass in their hand or during a meal," however they do allow pictures to be taken "during a Loyal Toast, or immediately before food is served."
Fortunately for us, this doesn't prevent the press from taking tons of photos of Kate's many chic outfits!
