Kyle Sinclair, Canadian soldier, dies in Petawawa incident

A Canadian soldier died after an incident at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa, the prime minister confirmed.

In a statement Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Craftsman Kyle Sinclair died from his injuries after an “unfortunate incident” at CFB Petawawa.

"On behalf of all Canadians, Laureen and I offer our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Craftsman Kyle Sinclair," the statement read.

"This incident is another painful reminder of the sacrifice that our brave men and women in uniform face daily in the defence of our nation’s freedoms and liberties, both at home and abroad."

Canadian Forces spokesman Lt. Jean-Francois Carpentier says only that the military is investigating, the Canadian Press reported.

There were no other details released.
