Oshawa skateboarder seriously injured after collision with car

A skateboarder suffered serious injuries after a collision with a car in Oshawa Saturday night. 

Durham Regional Police were called to the scene around 11:56 p.m. A red Chevrolet, driven by a 71-year-old Oshawa man, was driving eastbound on King Street. The skateboarder, a 20-year-old Oshawa man, was riding eastbound as well, police said. 

The skateboarder was sent to a local hospital and was later transported to a trauma hospital in Toronto with serious, life-threatening injuries. He remains in serious but stable condition, police said. 

The driver was uninjured, according to police.

The scene was closed for several hours while investigators collected evidence.
