"True Detective" has added three new faces to its cast, and two of them are Canadian.
Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch were confirmed as cast members for the HBO show on Monday. They'll join Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and fellow new addition Kelly Reilly in Season 2 of the popular crime series.
Kitsch, the star of films such as "John Carter" and "Battleship," had previously confirmed he would join the cast, but HBO made it official on Monday.
The second season tells the story of three cops and a criminal who are forced to "navigate a web of conspiracy" following a murder. Farrell plays Ray Velcoro, a police detective who finds himself stuck between a corrupt force and a mobster. Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a criminal whose move into legit business is threatened following the murder of a partner.
McAdams will play Ani Bezzerides, a detective with the Ventura County Sherriff's Office, whose ethical code puts her up against colleagues.
Kitsch's character is Paul Woodrugh, a war vet and California highway patrolman trying to escape his past.
Reilly, who starred in this summer's "Calvary," plays Jordan, wife to Vaughn's character, and an ex-actress who participates fully in her husband's business.
Series creator Nic Pizzolatto will write all eight episodes of Season 2, while the first two episodes will be directed by "Fast and Furious" helmer Justin Lin.
Production of the series has already begun in California, and the show is aiming for a Summer 2015 premiere.
