New pictures of missing British tourist Tom Billings released

Investigators are renewing a public appeal for information about 22-year-old Tom Billings who disappeared one year ago while travelling in Vancouver.

Police have released new photos of the young man, hoping that someone will remember seeing him.

Billings' disappearance triggered a major trail and helicopter search of Vancouver's North Shore mountains last year — with investigators asking for the public's help tocomb over aerial video.

Billings had been on an eight-week tour of North America, and was reported missing when he failed to follow through on his planned itinerary. He was last seen in Vancouver on Nov. 25, 2013, on East Broadway near McLean Drive at about 9:00 a.m. PT.

Vancouver Police say Billings had talked about going hiking on the North Shore. Investigators received credible tips that led to searches of the trails, but there was no sign of the missing man.

Sound mind, meticulous planner

Billings' father flew to Vancouver last year to help search for Tom, who he said was in good spirits when they last emailed days before his disappearance.

Martin Billings said his son is a meticulous planner, who had been hitchhiking and finding accommodation on during his trip. His laptop and backpack were left behind where he was staying on East Broadway.

Billings is described as white, five feet seven inches tall, 160 pounds, with blonde short hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and grey, military-style pants.

The VPD Missing Persons Unit is asking anyone who believes they saw Tom Billings that day to contact police.
