Mutiple garbage can fires set overnight in west end

Firefighters battled a trailer fire in the city's west end early Wednesday, a blaze that may be connected to a series of garbage can fires set in the area overnight.

Crews responded to the Scarlett Road and Dundas Street area shortly after 6 a.m. and quickly able to contain the blaze.

The fire erupted shortly after a series of seven garbage can fires were lit in the Roncesvalles Avenue and Dundas Street area, several blocks east of the trailer fire, between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.

While its not clear that the incidents are connected, investigators are considering the possibility.

Police are asking residents and business owners in the area to check any security camera footage for suspicious activities.
