Brendan Gallagher gets 6-year extension with Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens have signed young forward Brendan Gallagher to a six-year, $22.5 million contract extension.

The 22-year-old Edmonton native is in his third year with the Canadiens, who drafted him 147th overall in 2010. He'll earn $3.75 million a year over the course of the contract.

Gallagher has five goals and 12 points in 24 games this season.

The Twitter reaction was very positive for the hard-working forward's new deal.
