Bollywood actress Gauhar Khan was slapped while filming a reality TV show by a member of the audience who was offended by what she was wearing.

Mohammad Akil Malik was arrested for assaulting the television host while she was shooting "India's Raw Star" in Mumbai on Sunday. According to reports, the 24-year-old told Khan that "being a Muslim woman, she should not have worn such a short dress".

According to a police official, Malik had been visiting the set of the TV show as a member of the audience for the past few days to watch Khan. "Around 8 p.m. on Sunday, while the shoot was on, Malik suddenly got up and went on the stage," the official said, via the Times of India. "He tried to touch Khan who was taken aback and resisted. Malik then slapped her. He asked her how she could wear skimpy outfits and dance to cheap songs despite being a Muslim."

Security then proceeded to take down Malik and turn him over to the police. Malik is due to appear in court on Monday.

Khan, a former model, made her acting debut in 2009's "Yash Raj Films' Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year" and has starred in films such as "Game" and "Ishaqzaade." In 2013, she won "Bigg Boss 7"—the Indian version of the reality TV show "Big Brother."
