John Tory to meet with Premier Wynne to discuss Toronto's future

John Tory will meet this morning with Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne for the first time since his election as Toronto's mayor in October.

According to the premier's office, the meeting is set for about 9:45 a.m ET.

Tory officially takes the reigns from outgoing mayor Rob Ford on Monday, and will be formally sworn in and preside over his first council meeting Tuesday.

Ford's time in office was marred by a rocky relationship with the provincial government. Tory's early meeting with Wynne is largely viewed as another attempt by Tory to signal a shift in city hall's day to day operations.

CBC News learned Sunday evening that longtime councillor and former Ford ally Denzel Minnan-Wong would be tapped as deputy mayor, and that Tory himself will sit on the city's troubled police services board.
