Brand new Lamborghini ticketed and towed for excessive speeding

A new Lamborghini owner driving a $275,000 car had to shell out for a $368 dollar speeding ticket when police caught him driving over twice the speed limit.

Vancouver police tweeted out a picture Tuesday of the vehicle being loaded on to the back of a tow truck after the driver was tagged with a laser going 102 kilometres in a 50-kilometre zone.

Constable Brian Montague, the VPD's spokesman and the officer who ticketed the speeder, said the driver was "very shocked" to see the police when he was flagged down on Cambie near a residential part of 54th Avenue.

The 30-year-old driver received a $368 speeding ticket and had his vehicle impounded for seven days. He also received three demerit points on his licence.

The vehicle is a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan which was just released a few weeks ago. One of its top-selling features is its ability to go from a dead stop to 100 kilometres an hour in two-and-a-half seconds.
