Media mogul Pierre Karl Péladeau says he will use his business savvy as a weapon to win over support from Quebec’s anglophone population.
“I'll do my best,” Péladeau, laughing, told CBC Radio One Daybreak host Mike Finnerty during an exclusive English interview.
“I think my business experience around the world is certainly something that will help me do it," he added. "At the end of the day, Quebecers will be richer. I think being independent will provide a richer country, better opportunities and that will be able to be shared with all eight million Quebecers.”
Péladeau announced Sunday that he’s in the running to be the next leader of the Parti Québécois.
In part two of his interview with Finnerty, Péladeau discusses austerity, taxes, unions, the Nordiques and Quebec’s anglophone community.
Part two of Pierre Karl Péladeau’s exclusive English-language interview will air in full on CBC’s Daybreak with host Mike Finnerty at 6:40 a.m.
