Ottawa's Rachel Homan improves to 3-0 at Canada Cup curling tournament

CAMROSE, Alta. - Rachel Homan drew to the button with her final stone to score one and beat Heather Nedohin 5-4 on Thursday in a battle of unbeaten teams at the Home Hardware Canada Cup curling tournament.

Homan's Ottawa rink scored singles in the first, second, fourth, sixth and 10th ends to improve to 3-0 and remain the only undefeated foursome on the women's side of the draw.

Edmonton's Nedohin now sits at 2-1.

Meanwhile on the men's side, Winnipeg's Mike McEwen is also 3-0 after a 9-4 win over Jim Cotter (0-3) of Vernon, B.C.

In other action from Draw 4, Brad Gushue of St. John's, N.L., improved to 1-2 with an 8-6 win over Canada (1-2), which is skipped by Calgary's John Morris, while Winnipeg's Jennifer Jones (2-1) made a raised takeout for five in the ninth end in a 12-7 victory over Sherry Middaugh (0-3) of Coldwater, Ont.

Draw 5 and Draw 6 were set for later Thursday.
