Home invasion, possible kidnapping investigated by Montreal police

Montreal police suspect a home invasion in a eastern downtown Montreal apartment on Monday night is not the kidnapping it was first believed to be.

Just after 8 p.m. on Monday, two possibly armed men entered an apartment building on René-Lévesque Boulevard just under the Jacques-Cartier Bridge.

Two other men were inside the apartment. An altercation of sorts broke out, and one of the men from inside the apartment left with the two men who barged in.

On Monday night, police were investigating whether this was a kidnapping, but Const. Raphael Bergeron of Montreal police said that’s looking less and less likely.

Bergeron said investigators met with the man who remained in the apartment and are currently looking for the second man.
