By now you've probably dealt with a canker sore or two in your lifetime, and know how each tiny sore can be a complete burden.
In the video above by Pose, Dr. Jenny Wakerly goes through tips on how to make canker sores less painful when you're talking or eating. And as she points out, if you get canker sores often, you may want to see your family doctor for further treatment.
A canker sore is a small and shallow ulcer that appears inside your mouth, according to Web MD. There are generally two types: a simple canker sore, which appears three to four times a year and can last a week for people ages 10 to 20, while complex canker sores are more rare and can occur to people who have had them in the past.
And while the exact cause of canker sores is still unknown, Wakerly says it can be anything from stress to biting your inner cheek by accident. And in case you were wondering, canker sores are not herpes or cold sores.
