Watch Kuujjuaq's Christmas tree get airlifted into town

For the third year in a row, the village of Kuujjuaq, Que., has used a helicopter to airlift a Christmas tree from up the Koksoak River to the centre of town.

Kuujjuaq — the administrative centre of Nunavik — lies slightly north of the tree line. There are smaller trees right in the community, but you have to travel slightly further south to find a good-sized tree.

No roads connect any of the villages in northern Quebec.

Instead, Nunavik Rotors partners with the village to transport a tree by air.

Louisa Yeates captured the operation on video yesterday.

The official lighting ceremony is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m.
