'Many years' of skating ahead at Hodgson rink

It's already been open to the public for a couple of weeks, but Coun. Josh Matlow organized a community skating party Sunday at the rink behind Hodgson Senior Public School to celebrate its rebirth.

The rink, which is located near Davisville Avenue and Mount Pleasant Road, was closed last year so that it could be refurbished. But it opened up again at the end of November.

"I want to welcome you to another season of Hodgson skating. We're going to be having this for many years in the future," Matlow said Sunday.

When the Hodgson rink was out of commission last year, a temporary rink was set up at June Rowlands Park. Matlow said plans are afoot to revive that rink again this year, even though the Hodgson rink is back in operation.

Hodgson is one of dozens of outdoor rinks that are open to the public.
