Toronto man accused of being impaired, driving wrong way on 401

A Toronto man faces several charges after he was allegedly spotted driving the wrong way on Highway 401 in Pickering, Ont., this weekend.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Saturday, the Ontario Provincial Police received a call about a minivan going east in the westbound lanes of Highway 401, between Salem Road and Whites Road.

Police responded and arrested a 26-year-old Toronto resident.

The accused faces impaired and dangerous driving charges, as well as charges related to several Highway Traffic Act offences.

He is due to appear in an Oshawa, Ont., court on Jan. 15.
