Laval fire in pet shop under investigation

Laval police are investigating after a fire at a strip mall in the city’s Chomedey district caused significant damage to a store Sunday night.

The fire began just after 9 p.m. at the strip mall on Curé-Labelle Boulevard.

Police have reason to believe the fire was set intentionally.

“The suspect would have entered the principal hallway and put some accelerant to start the fire. The investigators will be there this morning to evaluate the situation,” said Const. Jolyane Ledoux.

Two other businesses, a hair salon and a golf store, sustained minor damages.
