The fashion world is ending 2014 on a high note!
Candy magazine, a "transversal style magazine," brought together some of the world's most prolific transgender women for their special fifth anniversary issue.
The gorgeous cover (a three-page fold out) features "Orange is the New Black" star Laverne Cox—who was the first transgender woman to appear on the cover of Time magazine this year—writer and Marie Claire contributor Janet Mock, model Carmen Carrera and model Geena Rocero, the founder of Gender Proud. Naturally, the ladies look gorgeous wearing glamourous gowns that show off their assets.
Check out a behind-the-scenes video of the cover shoot that Janet posted on Instagram:
The other cover stars include Isis King, Gisele Alicea, Leyna Ramous, Dina Marie, Nina Poon, Juliana Huxtable, Niki M'nray, Pêche Di, Carmen Xtravaganza and Yasmine Petty. The women form part of the magazine's 62-page portfolio called "The Role Models," photographed by Mariano Vivanco.
Trans issues have started to become more mainstream this year thanks to women such as Laverne Cox—a leading advocate for trans rights—and shows such as Netflix's "Orange is the New Black", which had its second season earlier this year, and the new Amazon series "Transparent."
While there's still a long way to go, we're glad to see Candy Magazine put these incredible women in the spotlight.
