Longueuil police arrested 10 in Quebec narcotics trafficking raids

Longueuil police are leading a series of raids this morning aimed at breaking up a drug trafficking ring.

It involves more than 100 police officers in Longueuil, Laval, St-Constant and Venice.

So far, they’ve searched nine homes and have arrested ten people.

Police said the focus of their investigation is narcotics trafficking.

Police spokesman Mark David says the investigation started with tips from the public back in May.

They arrested eight men and two women, all aged between 26 and 57 years old.

"Most of them are known to the police service. We have just started our searches, and right away we found over a pound of pot and a loaded firearm."

David said investigators believe the suspects were also trafficking cocaine.

Quebec provincial police, as well as the Laval and Roussillon police, are also taking part in the raids.
