Alleged intruder caught taking a nap during break and enter in North Vancouver

A homeowner in North Vancouver got a shock this week, when he found a stranger asleep on his couch, wearing his clothes.

RCMP were called out around 10 p.m. PT on Tuesday, to an apartment in the 100 block of West 2nd Street, when the homeowner found the 24-year-old man snoozing.

Police allege the man, a resident of Surrey, had broken into the apartment and stolen food, personal items and clothes, even putting on the homeowner's T-shirt.

The man then allegedly packed a backpack full of other items from around the home before deciding to lie down on the couch and get some shuteye.

"Police arrested the suspect without incident for break and enter and is now being held for court," said Cpl. Richard DeJong of the North Vancouver RCMP.

"He certainly was surprised to see the police!"
