Lethbridge 'Pileup' Sees 15 Vehicles Crash On Whoop-Up Drive (VIDEO)

Video Captures 15-Car Chaos In Lethbridge

The Lethbridge Regional Police Service is warning winter drivers to be careful on the road after a series of collisions took place last weekend.

Fifteen cars were involved in a string of crashes on Whoop-Up Drive Sunday, said a police news release.

The incident began at around 5:45 p.m., when a 30-year-old driver lost control of her car due to "icy conditions." It swerved left, then moved to the right and hit another vehicle that was heading eastbound, though neither driver sustained any injuries.

Another crash between two vehicles happened nearby just minutes afterward, police said.

A video posted to YouTube by user Joey Cook on Monday showed what was called a "15-car pileup" on the "Whoop-Up Bridge" in Lethbridge.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that the video "corresponded" to the incident described in its news release.

The video shows numerous vehicles on the side of a road when two more spin out of control and a third car hits one of them.

A voice on the video can be heard saying, "That's brutal, why is everybody going so fast? We've got to get like somebody to flag these people down!"

Then another collision happens between a car and an SUV, leaving debris on the road.

Cook said in a comment on the video that it was "minus 20 outside" when the collisions took place.
