Brooke Henderson joining pro golf tour

Canadian teen golfer Brooke Henderson, the No. 1 ranked female amateur golfer in the world, is turning pro, her family confirmed Thursday.

Henderson and Golf Canada have scheduled a teleconference for 3:30 p.m. ET to make the official announcement.

The 17-year-old phenom from Smiths Falls, Ont., has been expected to make the decision after a year in which she made the cut in all four of her LPGA Tour events, including a 10th-place finish at the U.S. Open.

Henderson's other big accomplishments include a victory at the 2014 PGA of Canada Women's Championship and a second-place finish at the 2014 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.
