Police search for suspects in Rivière-des-Prairies fatal shooting

Police are searching for clues and suspects after a man was fatally shot Thursday night in Rivière-des-Prairies.

“Upon their arrival they discovered a 35-year-old male with at least one projectile wound on the upper body,” said Const. Abdullah Emran of the Montreal police.

Police were called to the residential area around 8:30 p.m. after someone heard gunshots.

Officers rushed to the corner of 63rd Avenue and Maurice-Duplessis Boulevard and found a man on the ground there.

The man was transported to hospital, where he was declared dead.

Police canine units and investigators with the major crimes unit are on the scene.

There are no witnesses and no suspects so far. Police are asking people who may have heard or seen anything to call their anonymous tip line at 514-393-1133.

The victim was not known to police.

This is the 27th homicide of the year.
