Connor McDavid to play for Canada Sunday against Sweden

More than a month after breaking a bone in his hand, hockey phenom Connor McDavid is set to return to the ice against Sweden on Sunday in an exhibition contest at the world junior championship in Ottawa.

McDavid suffered the injury during a fight while playing with the OHL’s Erie Otters in mid-November.

A potential No. 1 pick for next summer’s NHL draft, McDavid took part in Canada’s practice last week.

The Canadians dropped their opening pre-tournament game to Russia, a 2-1 overtime loss, in Toronto on Saturday.

Canada finishes the exhibition portion against Switzerland on Tuesday in Montreal, before opening the tournament against Slovakia on Friday.
