RCMP investigate after child found injured on Paul Band First Nation

A six-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital after being found with severe injuries on a northern Alberta reserve Saturday afternoon.

The girl was flown from the Paul Band First Nation, southwest of Edmonton, by STARS air ambulance at around 5 p.m. MT.

A STARS spokesperson told CBC News the girl had suffered blunt force trauma, but could not say what caused her injuries.

RCMP have opened a criminal investigation.

No further details have been released.
