Crews battle 2 GTA fires early Wednesday

Firefighters were called to the scene of a blaze this morning onCedarview Drive, near Kingston Road and Highway 401.

Fire officials suspect the fire started with a gas leak at the rear deck. There were 16 people in building; all escaped without injury.

About 1 a.m. firefighters were called to another blaze in Mississauga.

The fire broke out in a condo on the sixth floor of a building on Confederation Parkway, just east of Square One.

People and pets were forced onto the street on Confederation Parkway. The fire was contained to the one unit and people were allowed back into their homes.

One Peel police officer was taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
