Anahim Lake: 6 charged in double homicide on Boxing Day

RCMP say half a dozen people are facing charges following a double homicide on Boxing Day in Anahim Lake, a remote community in the Cariboo-Chilcotin region of B.C.

Matthew Hennigar, 23, and Kalvin Andy, 22, were found dead inside a house on the 2100 block of Dorsey Avenue after police responded to a report of shots being fired at 11:53 p.m. PT on Dec. 26.

The small community of about 350 people is located on Highway 20, about 250 kilometres northwest of Kamloops.

Prosecutors approved charges against the following six people:

- Everett O'Reilly, 27, first-degree murder.

- Christian Cracium, 28, second-degree murder.

- Andrew Jongbloets, 25, second-degree murder.

- Serena Rhem, 26, second-degree murder.

- Lucille Mack, 33, manslaughter.

- Stephen Mecham, 22, manslaughter.

Police said earlier they believed those arrested and those killed all knew each other.

Investigators are now trying to establish the whereabouts of O'Reilly, Jongbloets, Rhem, and Cracium from the time of the slayings until their arrests the following morning at 10 a.m.
